Identifying Focal Populations: STEP Forward with Data Framework

This guided activity from Child Trends helps agencies and partners—in partnership with their communities—use an intersectional lens to understand supply and demand within specific populations of children and families across multiple domains (e.g., income, neighborhood, nativity, home language, race/ethnicity). By defining focal populations when examining supply and demand, agencies and partners can better understand constellations of push and pull factors that differ by focal population to better serve the needs and preferences of those populations.
